Grading the SB Nation bloggers NFL mock draft

The draft’s top player, Jadeveon Clowney, gets the highest grade from readers. The worst grade shouldn’t be a surprise considering the lightning rod nature of the player chosen.

The first round of the 2014 SB Nation blogger mock draft is complete and the grades are in. Out of 32 picks, just one received an overall "A" grade. That belongs to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who took South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 3 overall choice.

Even the Clowney choice received 19 “F” grades, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. Tabulating grades like this, they always skew toward the “C+” range. Some fans will give their team’s choice an “A” just because it’s their team. Other voters will give choose an “F” solely because it’s their rival team’s choice. Other low grades come because of wonderful anonymous Internet trolling. Those voters are just the best.

Anyway, seven other choices garnered an overall "B+ grade, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers choice of wide receiver Sammy Watkins getting the highest rating.

On the opposite end of things, no choice graded out worse than the St. Louis Rams selection at No. 2. That was the selection of lightning rod quarterback Johnny Manziel. That pick received a "D+" with just a 1.29 average. The second-worst grade was for another quarterback. The Minnesota Vikings selection of Derek Carr average just a 1.69, another "D+" grade.

The votes, of course, were tabulated by reader voting. No pick was voted on more than No. 4, the Cleveland Browns selection of offensive tackle Greg Robinson. Averaging out as a 2.52 for a "C+," 15,779 voters made their feelings known. That sheer number of voters, many from Dawgs by Nature, further proves that the NFL Draft truly is the Super Bowl for Browns fans.
