2014 NFL mock draft: Taylor Lewan to New York Giants at No. 12

The Giants are still rebuilding their offensive line, and it just so happens that they have a shot at a potential stud tackle in our mock draft.

For well over a year now, the New York Giants have been in the process of trying to improve their offensive line. Highlights of those efforts include spending a first-round pick on Syracuse tackle Justin Pugh last April, and signing guard Geoff Schwartz to a lucrative contract in free agency.

Plenty of other moves have been made, as well, but the Giants could still stand to continue their efforts to rebuild up front. Taylor Lewan, a well-regarded tackle prospect, is available in the 2014 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft. Will Ed Valentine of Big Blue View pull the trigger?

”In this draft scenario, value meets need perfectly for the Giants. They need to rebuild their offensive line and a potential franchise left tackle sits there for them at No. 12. As long as the character concerns about Lewan check out, there is no way the Giants could pass him up in this scenario. Lewan was also the pick for the Giants in the Big Blue View Community Mock Draft.”

Dan Kadar, our wise NFL Draft analyst, has some thoughts and opinions to share on the Giants' mock draft pick of Lewan:

This is a lot like the Bills’ pick at No. 9. Go with an offensive tackle or a weapon in the passing game? For the Giants, it could be between Lewan and athletic tight end Eric Ebron. Both players represent value and need for the Giants. It’s difficult to see Lewan having a bigger impact on New York’s offense than Ebron. While Lewan should be able to start as a rookie at left tackle, Ebron could transform the offense.

Next up in the 2014 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft: the super popular Ryan Van Bibber and Turf Show Times, whose No. 13 overall pick for the St. Louis Rams -- which publishes at 3 p.m. ET -- couldn't possibly be more heavily panned than the Johnny Manziel pick, right?
