Dak Prescott arrested for DUI less than 7 weeks before 2016 NFL Draft

Prescott is the No. 5 quarterback in the 2016 NFL Draft, according to NFL Network’s Mike Mayock.

Former Mississippi State quarterback and 2016 NFL Draft prospect Dak Prescott was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence, police told Michael Bonner and Sarah Fowler of The Jackson Clarion-Ledger.

Prescott earned MVP honors at the Senior Bowl in January and finished his collegiate career with every major Mississippi State passing record. Prescott and Tim Tebow are the only two SEC players to ever throw for more than 70 touchdowns and rush for more than 40.

He was released by police on bond and his agency declined to comment on the situation when contacted by The Clarion-Ledger. On Sunday, Prescott sent Ian Rapoport of NFL Network a statement.

“I want to make a statement, and first take complete responsibility for my actions,” Prescott wrote. “I want to apologize to my true supporters, my family, Mississippi State University, the NFL, and the kids who look up to me. I won’t ask for forgiveness; however, I’ll show the true man I am and exhibit my character through my actions and behavior moving forward.”

Prescott is the No. 5 quarterback in the 2016 NFL Draft, according to NFL Network's Mike Mayock, and impressed at his pro day on Thursday. According to Bonner, representatives of 30 NFL teams were in attendance and Prescott drew interest from a handful of teams with the Buffalo Bills scheduling a visit with the quarterback.

Earlier in March, ESPN announced Prescott would be one of seven quarterbacks featured on Gruden’s QB Camp, with episodes airing in April.
