The Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers are neck-and-neck in this heavyweight bout for the NFC Championship. Both teams are fighting to represent their conference in the Super Bowl in two weeks, and they're both playing like it. The Niners have been getting strong play from their defense in the second half, and they've been able to close the gap.
NFC Championship 2013, 49ers vs. Falcons score update: Atlanta leads by 3 heading into final quarter
San Francisco and Atlanta are neck-and-neck for the NFC title. They are heading into the fourth quarter down in the Georgia Dome.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Falcons lead the 49ers 24-21.
Despite the hot 17-0 start over San Francisco, Atlanta has been forced to keep battling. The Niners have possession of the ball at the end of the third quarter and are threatening to score. The Niners can tie it with a field goal or take their first lead of the game with a touchdown.
The issue has been that the 49ers cannot rely on former Pro Bowl kicker David Akers, who missed a 39-yard field goal already. The Niners must emphasize scoring touchdowns in the red zone if they hope to complete their comeback against the Falcons.
