The NFL could push the trade deadline back because of Hurricane Sandy, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. When he interviewed NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, he confirmed that the league is currently discussing whether or not to push things back. In an e-mail to Rosenthal, Aiello said that “it is being discussed and we will let the clubs know if a change is made.”

Multiple teams have shut down operations today because of the Hurricane and the current deadline is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday. With the possibility that teams could be shut down on Tuesday as well, that could make things tricky when trying to file the necessary paperwork for any proposed trades.
Not long after Rosenthal reported that the league was considering extending the deadline, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that the NFL will ‘likely’ extend the trade deadline beyond Tuesday afternoon because of Sandy. All that’s left to confirm this is for the NFL to work out some of the final details.
