Patrick Mahomes’ NSFW trick play was genius

Genius and also hilarious.

Patrick Mahomes pulled off one of the funniest trick plays of the season against the Raiders, by pretending like he was furious with Andy Reid and swearing up a storm at the line of scrimmage.

With the ball in their own territory, the Chiefs seemed like they were going execute a really common passage of play: Try to bait the defense into jumping offsides, and if that doesn’t happen, then just take a time out or a delay of game and send out the punter.

Mahomes turned this into something brilliant by appearing to swear at Reid over the headset by saying “this fu***** never fu***** works man.” This in turn lulled the Raiders into a false sense of security, at which point the Chiefs’ QB took the snap with nine seconds left on the play clock, handing the ball off and picking up the first down.

It’s unlikely this play will ever work again, but it was magic while it lasted.
