Cowboys’ Brian Schottenheimer wants to put those offensive stats where?

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the league’s best offenses. Entering Week 9, the Cowboys are second in the NFL in scoring, averaging 30.8 points per game. They are averaging 2.79 points per drive, fourth-best in the NFL. Quarterback Dak Prescott is performing at a high level as well, leading the league in QBR.

But thanks to one of the league’s worst defenses, the Cowboys are 3-4-1 and looking up at the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.

So as far as head coach Brian Schottenheimer is concerned, you can take those gaudy offensive numbers and, well, do something with them.

“None of us have done good enough,” said Schottenheimer on Wednesday when meeting with the media. “That’s real. Our scorecard is what it is. And that’s not just defensively. That’s offensively. We’re a football team that’s 3-4-1. You can take stats on offense and shove them up your ass as far as I’m concerned. It is what it is. We want to win.”

Wins have been tough to come by for the Cowboys, who were blown out by the Denver Broncos in Week 8. While the Dallas offense is among the best in the game, it is hard to walk away victorious when your defense is allowing an average of 31.3 points a contest, second-worst in the NFL.

While help may come via trade ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline, Schottenheimer is focused on Week 9, and the Arizona Cardinals.

“I don’t really talk a whole lot about [the trade deadline], I just focus on us trusting the process,” Schottenheimer added. “There’s always going to be noise and these guys can’t control the noise, any less than or more than we can. There’s always going to be noise and there’s always going to be speculation and things like that. Our focus is really, truly just one day at a time, get ready for Arizona. So I don’t go too much into that.”

The Cowboys take on the Cardinals on Monday night to close out Week 9, just hours ahead of the trade deadline.
