Changes have arrived in Miami.

Hours after losing to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football the Dolphins are parting ways with general manager Chris Grier. According to multiple sources, including Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the decision is a “mutual parting.”

Grier was hired as the Dolphins general manager ahead of the 2016 season, after working his way up through the ranks in Miami. He began as a scout for the team in 2000, then becoming the Assistant director of college scouting and later the Director of college scouting.

During his Miami tenure, the Dolphins have secured five winning seasons and three playoff berths, including in his first year as general manager. However, Miami lost all three of those playoff games. Grier has also been at the helm for three coaching decisions: Adam Gase, Brian Flores, and most recently, Mike McDaniel.

Regarding McDaniel, there are reportedly no changes being made on the coaching staff at this time.

Champ Kelly will serve as Miami’s interim general manager.

In a lengthy statement, Stephen Ross indicated that “change could not wait” in Miami.

In recent days the Dolphins had dismissed trade talks, in hopes that the team turns things around. Now with Miami sitting at 2-7 and a new interim general manager in place, that could begin a shift in thinking at Hard Rock Stadium.
