T.J. Watt entered Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears sitting 27th on the NFL’s official all-time sack list with 114 quarterback takedowns over his NFL career.

Sitting just ahead of him on that list? None other than his brother, J.J. Watt, who retired with 114.5 sacks over his NFL career.

As luck — or perhaps CBS Sports producers — would have it the older Watt is up in the broadcast booth for today’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Bears. So he was in the building what Watt did this to pass him on that all-time list:

Watt gets by the right tackle and chases Caleb Williams down in the end zone, knocking the football loose with the hit. Fellow Pittsburgh defender Nick Herbig was there to recover the loose football for the Steelers’https://x.com/NFL touchdown.

That gave the elder Watt a chance to react live to his younger brother passing him on the NFL’s all-time sack list:

“I mean if he’s gonna pass my record, that’s one hell of a way to do it. With a strip-sack causing a touchdown,” said the older Watt.

“Good for you T.J.”

Even better might have been the reaction from Ian Eagle just after that.

“He is now the Watt family all-time sacks leader.”
