Browns reveal Myles Garrett is staying in the most obvious way possible

This is hilarious.

There’s been a lot of consternation from Browns fans in the last week about the future of the best defensive player in the NFL, with the team making several curious moved with Myles Garrett’s contract which could hint to there being a trade. Now we can shut the door on that idea with this latest news:

The Browns had put forward a prospective rule change that would have allowed teams to trade picks up to five years in advance, up from three. It was a shortsighted move that could have led to more tanking in the NFL, as well as fans having to suffer the horrible decisions GMs had made to save their jobs with poor trades.

Now that is all dead with the Browns removing their plan, which is tantamount to saying that Garrett isn’t going anywhere, presumably because Cleveland was seeking multiple years of picks in a Garrett trade. It also comically comes on the same day that Rams head coach Sean McVay threw cold water on the idea that Los Angeles would trade for Garrett.

Read between the lines a little here: The Browns put forward a motion to allow more picks to be traded, then structured Garrett’s contract to be trade-ready, now they Rams pull out of any discussion, so they remove their motion to trade multiple picks.

Just too funny.
