For a second consecutive week, the winless Buffalo Bills took an AFC playoff contender to overtime in their home stadium. For a second consecutive week, the Bills found a way to stay winless despite their “success.” In Week 8, the Kansas City Chiefs were the beneficiaries, with Ryan Succop hitting a 35-yard, game-winning field goal with just a second left in overtime to secure a 13-10 win.
NFL Week 8 Scores And Results: Chiefs Survive In Overtime, Beat Bills 13-10
Bills kicker Rian Lindell kicked a game-winning, 53-yard field goal mid-way through overtime, but the kick didn’t count thanks to a timely timeout from Chiefs head coach Todd Haley. Lindell missed the ensuing kick. It was then Chan Gailey’s turn to ice the kicker; though his timeout didn’t negate a successful try from Succop, Kansas City’s kicker missed a game-winning attempt after the Gailey timeout.
After an intentional grounding from Ryan Fitzpatrick and a terrible punt from venerable Bills punter Brian Moorman, the Chiefs got 53 total yards from Jamaal Charles and rookie Tony Moeaki to set up Succop’s game-winning field goal. Charles, who had 238 combined rushing and receiving yards on the day, keyed a Chiefs offense that rushed for 274 yards in victory.
Buffalo is now 0-7, while Kansas City moves to 5-2 and increases its stranglehold on the AFC West.
