Patriots Vs. Vikings: After Brett Favre Injury, Teams Trade Touchdowns

Losing Brett Favre for the rest of today’s game with a lacerated chin isn’t a good thing for the Vikings. But they might have lost today’s game against the Patriots even had he stayed upright.

Tarvaris Jackson finished the drive Favre started with a touchdown pass and a beautifully thrown two-point conversion to draw the Vikings within a field goal at 21-18.

And then the Patriots knifed through the once-vaunted Vikings defense for a touchdown drive that more or less finished this one up. BenJarvus Green-Ellis ended the drive with a touchdown run, but the Patriots converting time and again with a running game did more than enough to make a Vikings comeback unlikely.

Now, with a 10-point deficit and under two minutes left, the Vikings must hope Jackson has a miracle for the ages in his pocket. It’s rather likely he doesn’t.
