Steelers Vs. Saints: New Orleans Pushed Out Of Field Goal Range By Penalty

A first quarter marked by a dearth of offensive production resulted in no points between the Steelers and the Saints, but New Orleans was close on its second drive. The Saints drove to the Pittsburgh 31, but on a 3rd down and 5, a Drew Brees swing pass to Julius Jones was tipped away by linebacker James Farrior.

Troy Polamalu, thinking the pass was coming in anyway, attempted a low tackle on Jones, who took exception to a dive at his knees. Jones yanked the back of Polamalu’s hair and was called for a 15-yard personal foul penalty, which pushed the Saints out of field goal range.

The Steelers, though showing little production in the pass, have fared well on the ground, breaking off runs of 18 and 15 yards.
