The Dolphins are being made to regret not making the most of their foiled opportunities in the first half. On the opening kickoff of the second half, Brandon Tate took it 103 yards to the house to give the Patriots their first lead of the evening and also their first touchdown.
Miami went three and out on the following drive, but the punt was blocked by Patrick Chung and recovered by the Patriots. plays later BenJarvus Green-Ellis took it into the end zone on a 12-yard touchdown run. So, after dominating much of the first half, it took not even three minutes in the second half for Miami to find itself in a huge hole.

The Patriots are reaching deep into their bag of tricks against the Dolphins. In a game in which Miami might hold a decisive lead if it were not for two Rob Ninkovich interceptions to halt Dolphins drives, the Patriots have to capitalize with the opportunities they get in case Miami stops shooting themselves in the foot.

The Patriots, for one drive at least, were willing to play the Dolphins’ brand of offense. After Chad Henne was intercepted by Rob Ninkovich, New England ran 15 plays before settling for a field goal inside the Miami 10.
The Patriots happened to run an uncharacteristic 10 running plays on that drive, including seven rushes in a row. The drive stalled with goal to go when Cameron Wake came off the end to sack Tom Brady on first down, pushing the Patriots back to the 15 needing to get into the end zone.
