Giants Vs. Eagles: Hakeem Nicks Spoils Big Play By Stepping Out Of Bounds
The Giants and Eagles traded three and outs on their opening possessions, but New York nearly struck for a big play on their opening third down. Eli Manning found Hakeem Nicks open along the right sideline, however even though Nicks hauled in the ball, the receiver was unable to get his second foot in bounds before he touched the chalk.
Had it been complete, the pass would have gone for about 40 yards and set the Giants up just outside field goal range in Philadelphia territory. Instead, the Giants were forced to punt the ball away. Said punt was a putrid effort by Matt Dodge. His punt went only 25 yards, as it seemed he was trying too aggressively to keep the ball away from DeSean Jackson, who the Eagles sent back to return the punt. The problem was that Dodge shanked it out of bounds. Fortunately for the Giants, the Eagles went three and out and New York was not made to pay for the mistake.
