The Detroit Lions will be hosting the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving day and, according to the NFL odds, the Patriots will run away with this one. Clearly New England is the better team but that's not the only thing they have going for them -- history says the Lions will have a difficult time winning this game.
Detroit Lions Haven’t Won On Thanksgiving In Seven Years
The Lions host a Thanksgiving day game every year but they haven't notched a victory since 2003 (22-14 over the Green Bay Packers). The Lions have been a pretty miserable team this decade and their Thanksgiving day games have shown that. Detroit has been outscored 213-74 in their last six Thanksgiving day games -- all losses -- and four of those have been by 20 points or more.
Keeping in line with recent history, we’re predicting a Patriots victory. The No. 1 offense in the NFL will be too much for the Lions to handle. Maybe yet another blowout will be enough to convince the NFL that there’s no need to put one of the worst teams in recent memory on national TV every Thanksgiving.
