I’m not going to pretend I knew who Alphonso Smith was before Thursday afternoon, but MAN. It’s hard not to notice him today. A quick Wikipedia search reminded me that he was once a prodigy from Wake Forest and a second round draft pick of the Denver Broncos. Those were better days, I think.
Alphonso Smith Is Having A Rough Thanksgiving
Today, he’s been exploited over and over again by the Patriots, and Deion Branch in particular. The CBS announcers aren’t helping matters, either. I’m pretty sure Phil Simms is about to blame him for the collapsed Detroit economy, and every time Branch touches the ball, Jim Nantz says, “Ohhh, it’s Alphonso Smith again.”
So, Alphonso Smith, here’s to you having a good Thanksgiving after this nightmare comes to its merciful conclusion. Nobody deserves to have such a crappy day on the best holiday of the year. And if you need a place to eat, I’ll even save some turkey for you. You can fly to D.C., watch the Jets-Bengals game, we’ll make Santonio Holmes jokes... It’ll be great.
I promise, we’ll forget this graphic ever happened.
