Saints Vs. Cowboys: Dallas And New Orleans Swap Field Goals To End First Half

The Cowboys offense is starting to find its legs after a disastrous first quarter. Too bad they can’t seem to draw closer than 14 points of the Saints.

After the Cowboys got on the board with their first field goal, the Saints with a 13-play, 54-yard drive to add another field goal of their own, a 45-yarder by Garrett Hartley. Dallas, left with only 43 seconds to respond before the half, was able to drive into Saints territory was about 15 seconds left but no timeouts.

A pass to Jason Witten gained three yards before the tight end went out of bounds at the Saints’ 41 with 10 seconds left. Kitna launched the next pass out of bounds along the right sideline, but Alex Brown was flagged for illegal use of the hands, pushing the Cowboys five yards closer. From there, David Buehler snuck a 53-yard field goal just inside the right upright to end with the first half with a 20-6 Saints lead.
