Saints Vs. Cowboys: Malcolm Jenkins And Drew Brees Save The Day For The Saints
Just as things were starting to look their bleakest and the Cowboys were going to walk away with their second shocking win over Saints in the last two season, second-year cornerback Malcolm Jenkins stripped Cowboys receiver Roy Williams as Williams was streaking toward the end zone on a breakaway reception.
Of course, if you judged Williams’ immediate reaction on the sideline, he wasn’t too broken up about it.
The Saints, a team that struggled on offense all throughout the second half, suddenly came to life. It took them only five plays to go 89 yards. The key play was a perfect 55-yard bomb to Robert Meachem along the right sideline. On the next play, Drew Brees hit Lance Moore for a go-ahead 12-yard touchdown.
The Cowboys got the ball back with a minute and 50 seconds left needing at field goal to tie, but the drive stalled not far into New Orleans’ territory. The Cowboys were forced to settle for a 59-yard David Buehler field goal attempt, which had the distance but sailed just wide left.
