QB Philip Rivers is without his favorite targets: tight end Antonio Gates and wide receiver Malcom Floyd.
Week 9 NFL, Chargers Vs. Texans: Randy McMichael Catches Second Touchdown, Bolts Trail, 23-21
None of that has really mattered, because Rivers is finding other ways to shred the Houston secondary. He has completed 12 of 15 passes for 234 yards, and three touchdowns as well. Two of which came to TE Randy McMichael.
McMichael has touchdown passes from 11 and 12 yards out, and has been a huge lift for Rivers in the red zone. The Chargers knew they would need receivers to step up and have big games against a porous Texans secondary, and they have done just that. WR Patrick Crayton also has three receptions for 70 yards.
The Chargers will need to continue to spread the field and work on the Texans secondary. There is a reason this pass defense is giving up over 300 yards per game, and QB Philip Rivers and the Chargers will likely continue to work on them.
