The Chargers were in a tough spot today. They were without TE Antonio Gates and WR Malcom Floyd, and had to travel to Houston to try out-score the prolific Texans offense.
NFL Scores And Results, Week 9: Lead By Philip Rivers, Chargers Edge Texans, 29-23
Fortunately, QB Philip Rivers makes his receivers look good, and even without his main targets, found a way to lead the Chargers to victory.
Rivers was phenomenal, completing 17 of 23 passes and throwing four touchdowns. He also threw one interception late in the game.
No Gates or Floyd? No problem, as WR Seyi Ajirotutu hauled in 4 catches for 110 yards, two of which went for touchdowns. Ajirotutu previously had only 5 catches all season!
TE Randy McMichael also came up big for Rivers in the red zone, catching two balls for 23 yards, both of which went for touchdowns.
This was a very entertaining game which featured two prolific offenses. In the end, the Chargers passing attack was too much for the porous Texans’ secondary, and they left Houston, TX., victorious.
