NFL Picks Week 15: Chargers’ Offense Will Overpower 49ers

Believe it or not, the San Francisco 49ers are actually a contender in the NFC playoff hunt. They're just 5-8 but one game behind the St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West. Similarly, the San Diego Chargers sit one game behind the AFC West leader Kansas City Chiefs. As has been the tradition with San Diego lately, they're in the midst of a nice late season run after a slow start.

The NFL odds tell you what you need to know about this game -- San Diego is a nine point favorite. The Chargers have won five of their last six and probably need to win their last three -- 49ers, at Bengals, at Broncos -- to have a shot at the AFC West, so you know they'll be ready for this game. San Diego's stats are very impressive as they're the second ranked offense (in yards) and top ranked defense (in yards). Simply put, they can (and will) put up a ton of points.

That's the main reason I'm taking San Diego over San Francisco in this one. The Chargers are simply too talented offensively for San Francisco to realistically keep up. QB Philip Rivers doesn't make many mistakes so you can't expect a meltdown game from him. Barring a collapse, San Diego takes this game.

The line is sitting at nine points and I’ll go out on a limb and say the Chargers win by more than nine points. I could fairly easily see a blowout coming, especially with the way the Chargers manhandled the Chiefs last week, 31-0.
