The Denver Broncos have already been eliminated from the palyoffs so they have reason to test a few players out including QB Tim Tebow who will start the rest of the season. That has a lot of fans excited to see what they have in Tebow but it also means QB Kyle Orton is now riding the bench.
Tim Tebow As Denver Broncos Starter May Mean Goodbye For Kyle Orton
Orton spoke this week and, while he didn’t agree with the decision, he acknowledged it was the organization’s to make in a situation like this. So will Orton be back next year or is this the Tim Tebow show?
"I don't know what's going to happen," Orton said. "I do know I'm not the one who's going to be making that decision. I'm not the one who made this decision. But (if) the organization wants to go a different way the rest of the year, then hey, that's just how it is. If I'm back next year, my belief is I'm coming back as the starter. Like I've said, I don't think anything I've done with my play warrants anything other than that. But they've made the decision, and I'm not going to fight the decision. It's the decision. I'll just prepare myself to play."
It also depends on who the quarterback is because Tebow isn’t for everyone, as we discovered during the NFL draft process. That also ties into picking the Broncos next coach -- do you pick someone who wants Tebow? Or someone who wants Orton/someone else?
Tebow, as a first round pick, will more than likely get his shot. And if he’s starting now, I suspect he’d have the upper hand heading into 2011. Which would leave Orton out on the street.
