Mark Sanchez Injury: Sanchez Will Start For Jets Against Bears

It looked like the New York Jets may have had to make their playoff push without quarterback Mark Sanchez after he suffered a slight cartilige tear in his shoulder in the team’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last weekend. However, Sanchez threw much more easily in practice on Friday, and coach Rex Ryan said he will start for the team on Sunday.

Via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News:

Rex Ryan has just confirmed our report that Sanchez will start barring any late setbacks. Ryan said that Sanchez had much better zip on the ball today. "We don't think this is an injury that is going to get worse," Ryan said.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to Sanchez, who insisted he would play on Wednesday. He was limited in practice on Thursday, but practiced much more on Friday.

The Jets are looking to clinch a playoff spot with a win, while the Bears are fighting for playoff seeding after clinching the NFC North title last Monday with a win over the Minnesota Vikings.
