After their long, opening drive was stalled, the Packers offense went out of sync for a bit.
49ers Vs. Packers: Aaron Rodgers Finds Greg Jennings For Big Play Touchdown Pass
However, it doesn’t take long for Aaron Rodgers and company to get it going. Midway through the second quarter, the Packers had the ball and Niners jumped offside; Rodgers and Jennings made them pay for it. Rodgers used the “free play” to air it out and find Jennings (who was in double coverage), hitting him right in stride and Jennings walked it into the end zone for a 57-yard touchdown.
That seemed to deflate the Niners, because they went “3 and out” on their following drive, and the game and momentum began to slip away from them.
When the Packers and their prolific offense smell blood, they attack. They did just that. After a Niners punt, the Packers started their drive from midfield. Rodgers went to work and found RB Brandon Jackson on a 35-yard screen pass to put them down to the one-yard line. The following play, RB John Kuhn ran it in for a touchdown to give the Packers a 14-13 lead.
The Niners got the ball, and after some struggling, it appeared they were primed for another punt. NO! Troy Smith found TE Vernon Davis for a 66-yard strike. Packers had blown coverage on that particular play, and Niners made them pay for their mistake.
