Bill Cowher: ‘I’m Just Not Ready To Jump Back Into It’

Free agent coach and CBS analyst Bill Cowher confirmed he’s not looking to get back into the NFL this year. Speaking on Sirius NFL Radio, Cowher says he’s not quite ready to return to coaching as some have speculated.

"I'm just not ready to jump back into it," Cowher told Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan of Sirius NFL Radio. "I want to be able to be chomping at the bit and be ready to go. That was just not the case. It was not an easy offseason. And I've got a good job at CBS so it was just not the right time."

A report came out a couple weeks ago that Cowher had a three team wishlist but he’s denied that citing respect for the coaches who are already in place at those teams.

There’s isn’t as much buzz about Cowher this year so I wonder if he’s losing some of his value as a free agent coach. The theme around the NFL in the last year has been more about downsizing rather than opening the wallet and Cowher is expected to be a pricey coach so he’ll need the perfect opportunity next year (or beyond) if that’s the case.
