The third quarter ended nicely for the Pittsburgh Steelers but continued a nightmarish day for the Cleveland Browns.
Steelers Vs. Browns: With 35 Point Lead After Three Quarters, Steelers Pull Starters
Wide receiver Antwan Randle El, a quarterback in college, was tossed the football by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlistberger on what appeared to be a reverse inside the Browns red zone. Randle El slipped while heading right-to-left, turned and fired the ball to wide receiver Hines Ward for a 3-yard touchdown.
After the Steelers took the 32 points lead over the Browns, head coach Mike Tomlin (an Omar Epps look alike) decided to start to remove his offensive starters. Roethlisberger made way for back up quarterback Byron Leftwich and Rashard Mendenhall's carries gave way to Jonathan Dwyer and Issac Redman.
The remainder of the third quarter was a bore fest as the Browns and the Steelers went back and forth with a total of three punts. Leftwich and the Steelers offense closed out the third quarter with a five play drive that continued into the fourth quarter.
