Do you think Rex Ryan has a New England Patriots thing? The difference in the New York Jets' approach to playing the Pittsburgh Steelers and the way they handled the Pats the week prior couldn't be more obvious. Even after beating the Pats and while prepping for Pittsburgh, various Jets wouldn't let New England off the mat.
Rex Ryan Talks About The Patriots Even After Losing To The Steelers
And after losing to the Steelers, Ryan is right back at it, not even waiting 24 hours before bringing up Bill Belichick’s team yet again. For whatever reason Ryan is often not willing to talk about his team’s present or future without putting it in the context of beating the Patriots:
This isn’t just about beating New England because, quite honestly, we’ve done a pretty good job of it. It seems like nobody else in the league can beat them, so we’ve got to find ways to beat Green Bay, to beat Baltimore, to beat these other teams we lost to.
I like Rex Ryan, and appreciate his focus, but it’s starting to get a little creepy. Remember when he left voicemails for Jets fans before his first game against New England? Going into Sunday’s AFC Championship Game there was a sense that the Jets had already won their Super Bowl by knocking the Patriots out of the playoffs.
If New York’s going to take the next step, they’re going to have to become more than just the team that lives to be New England’s nemesis.
