Yes, even though the Jets are no longer playing football, they are still standing in from of people with microphones and tape recorders and saying things. Rex Ryan says we "got no right" to criticize the team for its braggadocios ways, whatever that means. I suppose we're better off just resigning ourselves to the fact that the Jets are going to keep talking straight on through the off-season. So we might as well enjoy it.
Antonio Cromartie Extends His League-Leading Ripping Streak To Three Weeks
That brings us to Antonio Cromartie. The Jets “other” cornerback is the one who really kicked off this past month of Jet braggery with his take-no-prisoners ripping of Tom Brady.
“That’s the kind of guy he is. We really don’t give a damn, to tell you the truth. [He’s] an a**hole. F**k him.”
What we couldn’t have realized at the time was that this was merely the first of many rippings to come and the beginning of a streak that would soon rival DiMaggio’s hit-streak for its importance.
After Cromartie and the Jets dispatched with that a-hole, he moved on to Steelers’ wide reciever Hines Ward for ripping No. 2.
“I don’t think he’s a dirty player, but I know for a fact that he will hit you while you’re not looking...I don’t think he’s man enough to hit you when you’re looking at him.”
As we know, the Jets lost the game, their season ended and, presumably, so did Antonio’s ability to rip others. If that’s what you thought, you thought wrong.
Monday, Cromartie kept his weekly ripping-streak intact (3 weeks) by re-focusing his energy and anger at a new kind of target: The NFL as a whole and the Players Union.
“To tell you the truth, they need to get their damn minds together and just get their damn minds together and just get this s--t done, and stop bitching about money,” Cromartie said of the labor negotiations. “Money, money ain’t nothing … money can be something can be here and gone.
“So, to me, you need to stop bitching about it, and if you wanna say you’re gonna get into a room and meet and greet, and say you’re gonna do what you need to do, then do it, don’t just talk about it.
“I mean, you’ve got our head union reps acting like an a--hole, and they got their guys acting like them a--holes, so they just need to get their s--t together and get it done.”
Just a tour de force ripping from a ripper at the top of his ripping game. It kinda makes you want Cromartie to start ripping on non-NFL-related things on a weekly basis. Tell me you wouldn’t watch “Rippin’ It With Cromartie” on VH1 every Monday night?
On the economy: “To be honest, everybody needs to stop being such a**holes and go to work. You see me out there, doing what I gotta do. Why are all these people bitching? Just do the f**king work and stop sittin’ on your *ss spending money. Bunch of a**holes.”
