For fans, the 2011 Super Bowl should be a classic with two of the most storied franchises in the game in the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. For those interested in turning a profit during Super Bowl week, the New York Jets or Chicago Bears may have been a better choice.
2011 Super Bowl Without New York Jets Or Chicago Bears Is Costly
According to CNBC’s Darren Rovell, not having New York or Chicago in the Super Bowl could create a 30-50 percent drop in corporate spending.
New York and Chicago are two of the biggest cities in the country, which means they have more people and more business looking to capitalize on the event. Those teams being out of it will apparently be costly to the money flowing in Dallas next week.
That number is surprising to me because both the Packers and Steelers have huge fan bases despite being located in (relatively) smaller cities. It goes to show you the power of the big city.
