2011 NFL Playoffs, Seahawks Vs. Saints: Marshawn Lynch Makes Run Of The Year, Seattle May Have Clinched It

When the Seahawks needed him most, Marshawn Lynch may have delivered the most electrifying run of the NFL season. Lynch’s 67-yard gallop made a mockery of the Saints’ defense, and now the Seahawks lead, 41-30.

(UPDATE: We have video of Marshawn Lynch’s run. Watch it here.)

Up 34-30 with 4:20 left, the Seahawks were looking to run out as much clock as possible. A rush for the first down was the ultimate goal. On 2nd-and-10, Lynch broke a couple of tackles to stumble to a first down... and then kept going. He stiff-armed one defender so violently that he fell down, and through a series of weaves, found the end zone.

It’s already being called one of the greatest runs in postseason NFL history, and it came when the Seahawks needed it the most. Hasselbeck’s passing attack had crumbled over the past couple of drives, and with the Saints slowly narrowing their deficit, New Orleans looked primed, given the chance, to take the lead right back.

Down by two scores, the Saints have the ball, and the Super Bowl champions have only about three minutes left to find a way out of a stunning upset to the underdog Saints. Stay tuned for more, including video of Lynch’s run, which we hope to have for you sooner rather than later.
