Browns Vs. Raiders: Oakland Wins, But Not Before Losing Jason Campbell

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey continued his streak of fine performances today. Against the Cleveland Browns, Heyward-Bey finished with 82 yards on six catches. He did not score a touchdown in the Raiders’ win at home. He averaged 13.7 yards per catch, leading his team in receptions and yardage.

Heyward-Bey was averaging 65 receiving yards a game with 263 receiving yards on the season and one touchdown through his first five games of the 2011 NFL season. Heyward-Bey’s yards per game is up nearly 40 yards per game from last season.

With the victory, Oakland improves to 4-2 on the year. Cleveland falls to 2-3 in 2011 with the loss.

Oakland Raiders kick return man Jacoby Ford showed off a little of the speed that former Raiders owner Al Davis prized so much among his skill players with a 101-yard kickoff return touchdown against the Cleveland Browns today.

Cribbs has 12 catches for 153 yards and one touchdown so far this season. He’s only 12 catches away from setting a new career high in receptions; Cribbs caught 23 passes last season. The 2-2 Browns could use Cribbs against the 3-2 Raiders; he is one of the NFL’s best kick returners with seven returns for 199 yards on kicks and 10 returns for 128 yards on punts.

Cleveland’s 25th-ranked run defense is cause for concern in this matchup, going up against the Raiders rushing attack, which is second-best in the league. That could help Oakland put the game on ice if they can jump out to an early lead, like Sports Illustrated’s Peter King thinks they could.

The consensus holds at ESPN.com, where the experts unanimously picked the Raiders. And no one would stick out their necks for the Browns at CBSSports.com either. Suffice it to say that if Cleveland wins, there will be a lot of surprised people.
