Peyton Hillis Injury: Browns RB Remains Questionable

Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis' status for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks is uncertain, head coach Pat Shurmur said on Wednesday.

I can’t tell you the status of all four of these guys for the game Sunday,” Shurmur said, according to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, in reference to injured Browns Hillis, Scott Fujita, Joe Haden and Ray Ventrone.

Hillis injured his left hamstring during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders. Hillis underwent an MRI on Monday, which showed the strained muscle. Shurmur added that Hillis will do some light running today and could return to practice later in the week.

If Hillis is not able to play, 2010 second-round pick Montario Hardesty would get the start against the Seahawks, who have the NFL's 7th-ranked run defense and are allowing the fewest yards per rushing play this season. After missing his rookie season with an ankle injury, Hardesty has 40 carries for 143 yards in five games this season. The Browns beefed up their depth at the running back position by signing Chris Ogbonnaya off the Houston Texans' practice squad.
