San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh "expects" running back Frank Gore to play through a right ankle injury Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, but should not see a regular workload, reports CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.
Frank Gore Status Update: Conflicting Reports Surround Gore’s Status
Gore is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game but admitted he’s uncertain if he’ll play. Even if he does play, he may not see normal playing time. In that case, Kendell Hunter and Anthony Dixon should receive more playing time in a what can be considered a group effort among the three backs:
“I think it’s somewhat probable you’ll see all three,” 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman said [about] Sunday’s game.
Meanwhile, Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki predicted in his preview of Sunday’s game that Gore will be inactive:
It sounds like Gore will be inactive due to a bad ankle, meaning that rookie Kendall Hunter better step up.
Hunter has 11 carries for 30 yards and one touchdown for the 49ers so far this season.
