Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson has officially been ruled out of today’s match up with the Tennessee Titans, as expected. Johnson suffered a hamstring injury a few weeks ago and had surgery to remove some scar tissue from the area, in hopes to expedite the healing process. The Texans had hoped Johnson would be able to get some practice reps in this week to get ready for a possible Week 8 return, but he was not able to.
In Johnson’s absence, Jacoby Jones will once again start out wide opposite Kevin Walter with newly acquired Derrick Mason in the slot. The Titans defense ranks Top 12 in the NFL and Texans quarterback Matt Schaub has been nursing a shoulder injury.

Against the Steelers, Johnson averaged just 3.6 yards per carry. If the Titans hope to fulfill their playoff hopes, that figure will have to improve. As will a once-promising defense that gave up 432 yards to Pittsburgh.
This week’s matchup could prove pivotal in the race for the division crown, with the Texans looking to go 2-0 in the division and the Titans looking to draw even at 1-1.
