Hines Ward Injury: Steelers WR Has Yet To Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward missed practice Thursday, his second straight missed practice due to an ankle sprain suffered last week against the Arizona Cardinals. Though Ward's chances of playing this weekend against the New England Patriots appear somewhat tenuous, backup wideout Emmanuel Sanders sounded confident that the veteran would suit up.

“If he can’t go, I am the starter, but as of right now, we’re going with (Ward),” said Sanders, who has scored twice on 13 catches this season. “I saw him running today. Things are looking good.”

Ward has a reputation as one of the toughest players in the league, and he has been around the organization long enough that a few extra days of rest shouldn’t put him too far out of sync with the rest of the team. Fans may ultimately have to wait until game day to find out for sure whether he will make it onto the field.
