NFL Scores Week 8, Bengals Vs. Seahawks: Andy Dalton, Defense Keeps Cincy Winning

Cincinnati just keeps winning with just enough offense and defense. The Bengals moved to 5-2 in 2011 after defeating the Seahawks on Sunday.

Andy Dalton won't be confused with a great quarterback at any point in the near future. But his Bengals are doing something new with him at the helm: winning. Cincinnati got its fifth win of 2011 against Seattle on Sunday, a 34-12 victory that was even more impressive because it came on the road.

Dalton made both good plays and mistakes (168 passing yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions), but he, Bernard Scott (76 rushing yards), and A.J. Green (63 receiving yards and a touchdown) have formed the core of an offense that does just enough to win. And Cincinnati's defense is putting its opponents through the wringer when it matters.

Yes, Tarvaris Jackson threw for 323 yards, and Charlie Whitehurst added another 52. And yes, the Seahawks actually outgained the Bengals by more than 150 yards. But Seattle was just five-for-15 on third down, and scored just one red zone touchdown; Reggie Nelson's interception return for a touchdown to ice the game and prevent an unlikely comeback was just icing on the cake for the Bengals.

With the win, Cincinnati moves to 5-2 on the year; Seattle falls to 2-5 with the loss.
