Rex Grossman Named Starting Quarterback Over John Beck Against Dolphins

Multiple outlets are reporting that Rex Grossman has been named the Washington Redskins' starting quarterback over John Beck for Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins. After the Redskins' loss in Week 9, head coach Mike Shanahan had said in the postgame press conference that Beck would remain the starter, but the embattled coach had an apparent change of heart over the weekend.

Beck has started the past three games, all Redskins losses, and has led the offense to a wimpy 11 points per game, including Shanahan's first career shutout in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills. Before that, Grossman had started the season's first five games, throwing nine interceptions, culminating in a four-pick performance against the Eagles that led to his benching.

Coupled with the news that Ryan Torain is also starting, despite rookie Roy Helu's breakout performance last week, it's clear Shanahan is just rearranging deck chairs at this point. Never change, Shanny.
