New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan apologized on Monday after cameras caught him cursing at a fan at halftime of the New York Jets loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football. Ryan pointed out that he represents his team and the league and that his words were inappropriate.
Rex Ryan Apologizes For Cursing At Fan During Patriots-Jets Game
Here’s a snippet of what Ryan said to the media on Monday:
“I obviously made a mistake. I was full of emotion and just popped off. ... I apologize. I made a mistake.”
As Ryan was walking into the tunnel at halftime, a fan yelled something to the effect of “Belichick is better than you!” Ryan looked up and said, “Shut the f--k up!”
The league is looking into the matter and it could end up being costly for Ryan. Last year he was fined $50,000 for flipping the bird to a Miami Dolphins fan at an MMA event so the fact that he's a repeat offender, and that said offense came inside an NFL stadium, will likely make this fine more expensive for the Jets head coach.
