Several NFL and NBA players were present when one man was fatally shot and two others were wounded after a gunman opened fire at a New York nightclub early Tuesday morning, according to a report from the New York Times.

The incident occurred at the Juliet Supper Club in Manhattan around 2:22 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a day many of the NFL players were off. The athletes, however, are not connected to the shooting.

“There is nothing to indicate that any of the well-known individuals in the club that night had anything to do with the shooing,” said Paul J. Browne, the New York Police Department’s chief spokesman.

Among the players in attendance, according to the report: Giants' Chris Canty, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks (whose agent denies he was there), Antrel Rolle and Aaron Ross; Kansas City Chiefs' Branden Albert; Philadelphia Eagles' Jarrad Page; and NBA players John Wall, Carlos Boozer, Kemba Walker, Russell Westbrook and Chris Duhon.

A shooting in a New York nightclub with Giants players present conjures up memories of Plaxico Burress accidentally shooting himself in the leg a few years ago but this isn't a situation where any of the players have done anything wrong and they're not expected to be disciplined.
