Matt Leinart Fractures Collarbone, Texans Confirm

The headlines look all too familiar for the Houston Texans: Starting quarterback is out for the year. Matt Leinart, who was replacing Matt Schaub, went down with a shoulder injury on Sunday and shortly after that word leaked that the Texans feared he had a broken collarbone.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak spoke to the media on Monday and confirmed that Leinart will need surgery on a broken collarbone. The attention now turns to T.J. Yates, the rookie who apparently becomes the new starting quarterback.

The Texans signed Kellen Clemens when Schaub went down and a couple of rumors have connected them to other free agent quarterbacks. They reportedly like Brodie Croyle and could consider him and there have also been reports that Sage Rosenfels could be in play if released by the Dolphins.

Kubiak said the Texans would bring in another quarterback. Presumably they’ll want to do that sooner rather than later to prepare for Week 13.
