Jake Delhomme Headed To Texans Following Matt Leinart’s Season-Ending Injury

The Houston Texans haven't had the best quarterback luck over the last couple of weeks losing both Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart to season-ending injuries. They're down to rookie T.J. Yates and Kellen Clemens so they've decided to bolster that group a little bit by adding free agent Jake Delhomme.

The Texans worked out a number of quarterbacks after Schaub's injury, and ultimately signed Clemens. They also worked out a couple of quarterbacks (Delhomme and Jeff Garcia) after Leinart's injury, and decided to go with Delhomme.

The Texans are 8-3 and in control of the AFC South so they needed a veteran who could potentially step in quickly depending on Yates' performance. Delhomme has been in the league ince 1999 and most recently started four games for the Browns in 2010.

For his career, Delhomme, 36, is completing nearly 60 percent of his passes with over 20,000 career passing yards, 125 touchdowns and 101 interceptions. He appeared in the 2005 Super Bowl while a member of the Panthers.
