Former NFL defensive tackle and current Stanford football defensive assistant Chester McGlockton passed away on Tuesday night, the school announced. He was 42 years old and last played in the NFL eight years ago.

Former NFL player and current Stanford assistant coach Chester McGlockton passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 42.


Stanford made the announcement with a statement on Wednesday:
“Everyone in the Stanford Football family is deeply saddened by the passing of Chester McGlockton,” said Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw. “For the past two seasons, Chester has been a valuable member of our football staff and a wonderful friend to us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chester’s wife Zina and their two children.”
Following his playing career, McGlockton turned to coaching, including a stop as an intern with the University of Tennessee. Most recently, he accepted a position on Stanford’s staff under David Shaw as a football assistant.
At last listing, the NFL had McGlockton at 6’3” and 334 pounds.
