Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson has been fined for his touchdown celebration in Sunday's loss to the New York Jets. According to the Associated Press, Johnson was fined $10,000 for his touchdown celebration, which mocked Plaxico Burress.
Stevie Johnson’s TD Celebration Costs Him $10,000
Johnson scored a touchdown in Week 12 against New York and flashed his hands in the air like pistols apparently mocking Plaxico Burress, who shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub several years earlier. We didn’t think the league would like that and they didn’t. The NFL prohibits players from simulating weapons.
Johnson was penalized in the game for going to the ground in his celebration, as he was acting out a jet crashing to the ground. That allowed the Jets to secure solid field position and ultimately come back to win the game, which Johnson has acknowledged. He has since apologized to Burress.
Johnson also had a costly drop in the final minutes of the game.
