Jim Leonhard Injury: New York Jets Safety Is Done For The Year

Confirming reports on Sunday, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said starting free safety Jim Leonhard is done for the season, according to Menish Mehta. Ryan said an MRI on Monday revealed that Leonhard had torn his patella tendon in his right knee. Leonhard's 2010 season was also cut short by an injury. Leonhard will be replaced by Brodney Pool, but the team is also reportedly looking for other options outside the organization.

Pool is a seven-year NFL veteran who has been playing with the Jets for the past two seasons. He has 97 career appearances and has played in 11 of the Jets' 14 games this year after appearing in 15 games last year. His most successful years were with the Cleveland Browns, with his best year probably coming in 2008-0 when he made seven interceptions and 115 tackles over 26 games. The following year he signed a $1.3 million contract with the Jets.
