Saints Vs. Vikings: Failed Onside Kick Leads To Minnesota Points, But New Orleans Leads 21-13 At Halftime

After quite a few miscues, the Saints got to work near the start of the second quarter. Drew Brees orchestrated a five-play, 46-yard drive that ended in a Saints touchdown, putting them up 14-6. Then, they tried for a surprise onside kick, but it was recovered by Everson Griffen of the Minnesota Vikings. That set the Vikings up at their own 39-yard line and it was all Adrian Peterson from there. He rushed for eight yards, one yard, and then broke out a 39-yard rush on the right side. Quarterback Joe Webb checked in at this point and picked up a couple of yards, but it was Christian Ponder who capped it all off with a pass over the middle to Toby Gerhart for ten yards and a touchdown.

New Orleans came right back though, with another impressive drive. Drew Brees took them 74 yards in 13 plays, capping it off with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Darren Sproles. Lance Moore has a 22-yard reception on the drive, as well. At the half, New Orleans holds a 21-13 lead.
