Ben Roethlisberger Injury: Steelers QB Wants To Play Week 16

The Pittsburgh Steelers dropped a 20-3 game to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football and the concern following the game revolved around QB Ben Roethlisberger, who played in that game with an injured ankle. Roethlisberger was clearly hobbled throughout the game and a report later surfaced that he was likely to sit in Week 16 in order to rest his ankle.

That may ultimately be the case but Roethlisberger says no decisions have been made about his status, and he wants to play on Saturday.

“They always like to say things,” Roethlisberger said in disagreeing with Jason La Canfora’s report. “Unless Coach (Mike Tomlin) said something, I will wait to hear it from him.”

Roethlisberger's Steelers are tied with the Ravens in the AFC North so they stil have something to play for -- a division title. They missed a golden opportunity to take a one-game lead in the division last week when the Ravens lost to the Chargers but Pittsburgh couldn't topple Jim Harbaugh's 49ers.

So will Roethlisberger play? I don’t think there’s an answer to that right now. More than likely, this comes down to a game-time decision and in the past Roethilsberger seems to always end up playing in those situations.

Check out SB Nation’s Behind The Steel Curtain where they’re talking about how Pittsburgh can still finagle a first round bye, with or without Roethlisberger.
