Jon Gruden Reportedly Wants To Coach In 2012; ESPN Says Otherwise

ESPN's Monday Night Football announced Jon Gruden is back in the news after a Monday night report from the San Diego Union Tribune stated he wanted to return to coaching in 2012. The report even went as far as speculating on where Gruden could end up (St. Louis Rams) if/when he does get back into coaching.

Gruden is currently under contract with ESPN, who issued a statement to Pro Football Talk regarding Gruden’s future.

“Jon signed a multi-year extension with ESPN this fall. He remains committed to being a part of Monday Night Football for many years.”

What’s interesting is that we still haven’t heard a firm denial from Gruden himself. A report has connected him to coaching in 2012 and ESPN says it’s not true -- but where’s Gruden in all of this?

It seems like an annual process when the regular season ends that we point to Gruden as a candidate for some job in the NFL. In the past three years, he hasn’t taken the bait but at some point he’s going to get back into coaching.

The question as of now is whether he takes a job for the 2012 season.
