The Green Bay Packers have already clinched the NFC North and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, but the Detroit Lions, who have already clinched a spot in the NFC Playoffs, will be looking to solidify the No. 5 seed that means they'll avoid the San Francisco 49ers or New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card Round.
NFL Picks And Predictions Week 17: Lions Vs. Packers
Most NFL experts are picking the Detroit Lions to beat the Green Bay Packers and avoid New Orleans in the first round of the playoffs.
Green Bay has won 11 of their last 12 meetings with the Lions, including a 27-15 win in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King doesn't think Aaron Rodgers will play too much on Sunday, but is picking the Packers to win anyway. With the exception of Eric Allen, ESPN's panel of experts are picking the Lions as are all five of the experts at CBSSports.com.
Mike Florio and Gregg Rosenthal of NBC Sports/Pro Football Talk are split on who will win on Sunday.
"The Packers aren’t likely to play their starters four quarters," writes Rosenthal. "That doesn’t mean this will be a cakewalk for Detroit. Ask the 2004 Bills about playing a No. 1 seed’s backups. Or the 2010 Patriots about facing Matt Flynn. Still, Detroit wants to avoid a trip to New Orleans. Their defensive line will make the difference.
