The NFL and NFLPA met the Saturday before the Super Bowl for a negotiating session as they try to hammer out a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The two sides hadn’t held a formal bargaining session for some time so that was considered good news.
NFL Owners, Players Cancel Day Two Of Labor Meetings In Washington
It was even better news when word came from ESPN’s Trey Wingo reported that the two sides had scheduled 14 hours of meetings on Wednesday and Thursday. The latest news is that the talks planned for Thursday have been canceled, NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports.
The sides met Saturday in Dallas, and future talks are planned. Such setbacks are not out of the norm, but hopes of building momentum through multiple sessions this week will not be met.
What does this mean? Is it bad news?
We’re not really sure. It’s hard to see how this is good news because the expiration of the labor deal is less than a month away so they need all the time they can get for more negotiating sessions.
